During the five-year tenure of Delhi’s seventh assembly, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs have been ahead in terms of attendance, but BJP MLAs have been on top in terms of asking questions. During this period, a total of 948 questions were asked on Delhi’s roads, water, health and other issues. The eight BJP MLAs asked an average of 41 questions, while the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs asked only 10 questions on an average.

In five years, two BJP MLAs asked the maximum 45-45 questions in the Assembly. According to the report prepared by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Delhi Election Watch, details of questions asked by MLAs, introduction and passing of bills were analyzed during the tenure of the seventh Delhi Assembly.

It was also told in the report that the maximum number of 522 questions were asked in the Assembly in 2022. At the same time, Delhi MLAs showed the least interest in 2020 and 2024, because not a single question was asked in the Assembly in these two years. Corona infection and lockdown could be the main reasons for this in 2020, but even in 2024, the MLAs did not ask any questions on the issues of Delhi.

Most of the questions were related to the following departments:

  • Urban Development: 130 questions
  • PWD: 98 questions
  • Delhi Jal Board: 76 questions
  • Health: 74 questions
  • Education: 55 questions
  • Revenue: 52 questions
  • Food and Supplies: 50 questions
  • Transportation: 47 questions
  • Urban Shelter Improvement Board: 43 questions
  • Social Welfare: 37 questions

At the same time, in Govindpuri of Kalkaji seat, Chief Minister Atishi has complained to the Election Commission about the supporters of BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri assaulting and threatening the workers. He alleged that his workers were beaten up and threatened in Govindpuri on Monday. Atishi has demanded from the Commission to deploy additional police force in Kalkaji.
