Cold Wave has gripped many parts of North India. India Meteorological has forecasted a change in weather conditions in the coming days and has issued a warning about a drop in temperatures across various parts of North India due to cold wave conditions. Delhi, the national capital, is currently covered in a thick layer of fog as cold wave conditions persist. The air quality has deteriorated, leading to zero visibility. Light rainfall is expected in the city, and foggy conditions are likely to continue throughout the day.

Weather disturbance in North India

The IMD reports that various weather systems, such as Western Disturbance and related cyclonic circulations, are affecting weather patterns in North and Central India. Dense to very dense fog is anticipated in several regions of Punjab and Haryana as well.

According to the weather department, cold waves and snowfall are affecting many parts of India, resulting in a significant drop in temperatures and visibility levels dropping to zero in numerous regions. Meanwhile, Heavy snowfall has been observed in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the districts of Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara, Budgam, and Ganderbal.

Today, the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be around 29.48 °C and -14.54 °C. According to the weather department, dense fog is expected in Himachal Pradesh from January 24 to January 26, 2025.

Odisha weather

A dense fog alert has been issued for several districts in Odisha, including Khurda, Angul, Cuttack, and Sundargarh, lasting until January 24, 2025. Additionally, the temperature in the state is expected to rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius due to a western disturbance. This weather pattern will bring warmer air, reducing the severity of winter chills across the region.
