Important fasts and festivals like Shattila Ekadashi, Til Dwadashi and Masik Shivratri fall in the month of Magh. Bathing in Ganga and donating sesame seeds are considered to have special significance in this month. It is said that cow, sesame, jaggery and blanket should be donated in this month. Fasting and worship also have special significance in the month of Magh, in which Lord Vishnu and Shiva are worshipped.
This week, there is a fast of Shattila Ekadashi on 25th January, which is considered to be the most special Ekadashi of Magh month. On this day, sesame seeds should be offered in the worship of Lord Vishnu. After this, Dwadashi also has special significance, which is called Til Dwadashi, Ekadashi fast is observed on this day. After this comes monthly Shivratri and Pradosh fast. There are also Gandamul Nakshatra in this month, which give special virtuous results.

- 25 January (Saturday): Magh Krishna Ekadashi date (till 08:32 pm) – Shattila Ekadashi fast.
- 26 January (Sunday): Magh Krishna Dwadashi date (till 08:55 pm) – Til Dwadashi, Republic Day.
- 27 January (Monday): Magh Krishna Trayodashi Tithi (till 08:35 pm) – Maas Shivratri fast, Adinath Nirvana Day (Jain), Gandmool (till 09:02 am).
