Nashik: Overtaking Attempt On Ghoti-Sinnar Highway Turns Fatal, Killing 3 & Injuring 2 | Sourced

A road accident occurred on Monday evening on the Ghoti-Sinnar Highway, Igatpuri taluka, claiming the lives of three individuals, including a four-year-old girl. Two others sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

The collision involved an auto-rickshaw and a container truck near the SMBT Hospital. According to initial reports, the container driver, while attempting to overtake another vehicle, lost control and collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so intense that the auto-rickshaw was crushed, resulting in three fatalities on the spot. Two others suffered life-threatening injuries.

The deceased have been identified as rickshaw driver Amol Vinayak Ghuge (25), Swara Amol Ghuge (4), and Martand Piraji Awhad (60). The injured include Pratiksha Amol Ghuge (22) and Kalawati Martand Awhad (58), both of whom are currently receiving treatment at SMBT Hospital.

Eyewitnesses reported that residents rushed to the scene to assist the victims and transported the injured to the hospital. The container truck driver, identified as Rahul Kumar Prajapati (28) from Jharkhand, has been detained by the Wadivarhe Police for questioning. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

This incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the urgent need for stricter traffic regulations and safer driving practices on highways. The Wadivarhe Police have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ensure justice for the victims.
