The Uttar Pradesh government has given permission for widening and renovation of Aligarh-Palwal highway. This step will provide better connectivity to Duhai International Airport (Ghaziabad) and Delhi-NCR. Also, this road will facilitate traffic between Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. In future, travel between these three states will be easier and faster.

The renovation and widening of Aligarh-Palwal Highway will strengthen connectivity for these three states:

  • Uttar Pradesh: Aligarh and other districts will get direct benefits.
  • Haryana: Palwal, Gurugram, and other areas will get better connectivity.
  • Delhi-NCR: Travel from Delhi and Greater Noida will be faster and more convenient than before.

Route expansion and widening

Green Field and Bypass Construction:

  • Green Field Route: A new route will be built from Aligarh to Palwal.
  • Bypass: A 36 km long bypass will be built in Jattari area.
  • Brown Field: The existing road will be widened and repaved.

Land Acquisition Process:

  • Land of 31 villages will be acquired for road construction.
  • 17 villages have been given compensation of Rs 550 crore in the first phase.
  • 4 more villages will be given compensation of Rs 50 crore.
  • The administration has organized special camps for distribution of compensation.

Budget and construction plan

Total Budget:

  • The project will cost Rs 2,500 crore.
  • Provision of Rs 1,500 crore for land acquisition.
  • Rs 552 crore has already been spent on road construction and widening.

Current status of expansion:

  • The Public Works Department (PWD) has handed over this highway to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
  • The construction work will start soon after the DPR and budget are finalized.
