Mumbai: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) mains examination 2025 will commence from Wednesday. The exams, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will comprise of two papers- paper 1: Bachelor of Engineering /Bachelor of Technology (B.E/B.Tech), and paper 2: Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) and Bachelor of Planning (B.Planning).

Approximately 10 lakh candidates are set to appear for the exams, which are considered one of the toughest competitive exams in the country. Session 1 of the examination will be held on January 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29 for paper 1 and on January 30, 2025 for paper 2. Paper 1 consists of 300 marks, while paper 2 consists of 400.

The JEE Main 2025 examination will be held in two shifts for paper I- first shift from 9 am to 12 noon and second shift from 3 pm to 6 pm. For paper 2, the exam will be held in a single shift from 3 pm to 6.30 pm.

In a shift from regular norms, the NTA had made it necessary for candidates to register using either Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) ID or DigiLocker. On the day of the JEE Main 2025 exam, those who chose non-Aadhaar authentication, or did not finish registering using DigiLocker/ABC ID, must arrive early. In order to perform biometric verification, the NTA has recommended that these applicants arrive at the exam location at least one hour beforehand.

The exams will be conducted in 13 languages, namely: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. While there are more than 250 test centres across India, NTA has allotted 15 centres outside the country to cater to the Indian nationals who studied abroad.

JEE Main 2025 exam centre instruction

Things to carry:

1. Print copy of Admit Card along with Self Declaration.

2. One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) for pasting on the specific space in the Attendance Sheet at Centre during the examination.

3. Authorised Identity Card:

– Any one of the authorised photo IDs – (must be original, valid, and non-expired)

– School Identity Card.

– PAN card.

– Driving License.

– Voter ID.

– Passport.

– Aadhaar Card (With photograph).

– Ration Card with photograph.

– Class 12 Board Admit Card with photograph.

– Bank Passbook with Photograph.

4. PwD / PwBD certificate issued by the authorized medical officer (if claiming the relaxation under PwD/PwBD category).

5. A simple transparent Ballpoint Pen.

6. Transparent water bottle

Things not to carry:

1. ELECTRONIC DEVICES

– Mobile Phones

– Smart Watches

– Earphones

– Calculator

– Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator

– Any metallic items or electronic gadgets/devices.

2. STATIONERIES

– Instruments

– Geometry box

– Pencil box

– Exam board

– Any kind of Paper or Textual material.

3. OTHER ITEMS

– Carry handbag or purse.

– Wear any type of rings, chain or earrings.

– Wear caps.

– Wear closed footwear.

– Mehendi in hand
