The 32nd Property and Home Finance Expo, organized by CREDAI-MCHI that concluded on Sunday, witnessed an impressive turnout with over 58,000 visitors in three days. A significant milestone was achieved when 18 properties were booked in just 10 minutes, reflecting the swift evolution of home-buying processes. MICL generated Rs 58 crore in business, while SBI Bank recorded transactions worth Rs 224 crore, highlighting the Expo’s commercial success.
In a digital keynote, Sujata Saunik, Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, called for challenging gender biases in real estate. She urged policymakers and developers to prioritize women-centric housing, emphasizing homeownership as a foundation for safety and empowerment.
CREDAI-MCHI President, Domnic Romell, addressed the low female homeownership rate of 1.89% in Maharashtra, announcing a special Rs 2 lakh offer for women buyers. “Women are the catalysts of progress, and it’s time to place them at the center of our real estate vision,” he stated. COO Keval Valambia reinforced this sentiment, describing Pink Day as a movement for women’s rightful role in homeownership.
Expo Convener Nikunj Sanghavi underscored inclusivity’s transformative impact, stating, “By empowering women, we build a future rooted in equality.”
Prominent luxury designers Neeta Sarda, Deval Ambani, and Lopa Sanghvi shared insights on women’s influence in redefining high-end interiors, while the session “Women Leading the Way: Entrepreneurial Pathways” showcased successful female leaders shaping sustainable real estate.
Inspirational figures like Vanita Borade, India’s first female snake rescuer, and Harshini Kanhekar, the country’s first female firefighter, captivated audiences with their groundbreaking journeys.
Discussions also spotlighted LGBTQIA+ inclusivity in housing. Experts from Urja Trust, G.H.A.R, and Another Light Counselling highlighted barriers faced by same-sex couples in homeownership. Media personality Zarna Alkanti emphasized the role of sensitization in shaping inclusive urban spaces.
With initiatives like Gay Housing Assistance Resource (GHAR) and calls for temporary shelters for transgender individuals, the Expo demonstrated a commitment to a more equitable housing sector, fostering a sense of belonging for all.
