India is also included in BRICS
India is also included in BRICS. Last month in December, Donald Trump had threatened the BRICS countries that if they tried to weaken the US dollar, he would impose 100 percent tariff on the BRICS countries. These pose a threat to the countries included in the BRICS alliance, which include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
On the other hand, Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Malaysia have applied to become members of BRICS. Apart from this, many other countries have also expressed their desire to participate in it. However, the US dollar is still the most used currency in global trade and has managed to maintain its dominance despite challenges in the past.
BRICS members and other developing countries say they are fed up with US dominance of the global financial system. BRICS countries want to better pursue their economic interests by reducing global dependence on the US dollar and euro.
