Aam Aadmi Party chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal mentioned an incident from Ramayana in an election rally on Monday, but he is being trolled on social media for the mistakes made in it. Taking aim at Kejriwal, BJP has once again taunted him by calling him an ‘electoral Hindu’.
Kejriwal narrated the story of Ramayana
Addressing an election rally in Vishwas Nagar on Monday evening, Arvind Kejriwal narrated the incident of Sita Haran, cautioning slum dwellers from the BJP. He said:
“One day Lord Ram went to the forest to arrange food. He left Mother Sita in his hut and told Lakshman that he will protect Mother Sita. Meanwhile Ravana came in the form of a golden deer. Mother Sita said to Lakshman, I want this deer. Lakshman refused, but Mother Sita ordered him to go and catch the deer and bring it. As soon as Lakshman left, Ravana disguised himself and abducted Mother Sita.”
After this, Kejriwal took a dig at BJP and said:
“These BJP people are also like golden deer. Don’t fall into their trap, otherwise you all will be kidnapped. These days they are playing carrom with your children, but after the elections they will bring bulldozers. Don’t worry, as long as your son is alive, I will lie down in front of the bulldozer. I will not let the slum be demolished.”
Kejriwal’s mistake in the story
There were many mistakes in Kejriwal’s narrating this episode of Ramayana, which the BJP immediately targeted:
- Lord Ram went to the forest: Kejriwal said that Lord Ram had gone to the forest to arrange for food, whereas in reality he had gone to the forest to chase the golden deer.
- Ravana becoming a deer: Kejriwal said that Ravana came in the form of a golden deer, while Marich took the form of a golden deer.
- Sita’s conversation with Lakshman: In Ramayana, Mother Sita had asked Lord Shri Ram, not Lakshman, to bring the golden deer.
- Disguise of Ravana: Ravana came to Mother Sita in the guise of a Brahmin and not in the form of a deer.
BJP’s attack
BJP strongly attacked Arvind Kejriwal for these mistakes.
- Parvesh Verma (former MP and challenger to Kejriwal from New Delhi seat) wrote:
“According to election Hindu Arvind Kejriwal, ‘When Shri Ram ji went to the forest to look for food, Ravana came in the form of a golden deer.’ But let me tell the electoral Hindu that ‘In Ramayana, the demon Marich had taken the form of a golden deer and Mother Sita had asked Lord Shri Ram to bring the deer. This is the fake knowledge of election Hindu…!”
