Since the very first day of the incident, everyone has been pondering the question: How did the accused enter the actor’s building, Sat Guru Sharan, in Bandra West? The police have revealed some details after arresting the accused.
A police officer involved in the investigation from day one stated, “The accused scaled the building’s compound wall from the nearby road and jumped inside. The guard in the compound was fast asleep. The accused then climbed part of the building wall using a drainpipe, took the stairs, and used the duct to reach Saif’s bathroom. He most likely carried tools to open the bathroom window. When he jumped into the bathroom, the noise woke up the nurse, who was asleep in Saif’s son Jehangir’s bedroom. She raised an alarm, which brought Saif to the scene. He was then stabbed, after which the assailant took the same route to escape.”
The officer added that the building’s security was inadequate. The CCTV system was outdated, and the police needed to access the footage, but no one knew the password. Almost two to three hours were wasted trying to recover it.
The accused had roamed the actor’s residence area with friends. His friends informed him that wealthy people, including industrialists, lived there. He needed money and was willing to do anything to get it, the officer said.
The police first traced him via CCTV footage up to Worli. They then sought help from the railway police, who provided his travel route. Meanwhile, the police obtained the accused’s mobile number from his friend, ‘Pandey.’ Although the accused didn’t use the phone for GPay or similar services, the police managed to locate the device in Thane, behind Hiranandani. The police are now investigating whether he had any accomplices. The officer further stated that the accused does not have a bank account in India.
