Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Taking a tough stance on negligence in cleanliness, municipal commissioner Shivam Verma on Sunday slapped a penalty of Rs 5000 on the NGO responsible for sanitation in the area and also ordered deduction of Rs 5000 from the salary of the sanitation inspector of ward 10.
Verma conducted a thorough inspection of various sites across the city, including locations designated for Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and ongoing pond beautification projects.
During the inspection near Aurobindo Hospital, he saw garbage and filth in a nearby drain. Taking swift action, he imposed a Rs 5000 penalty on the NGO ‘HMS’, responsible for cleanliness in the area. Additionally, the sanitation inspector for Ward 18, Gopal Untwal, faced Rs 5000 deduction from his salary for failing to ensure proper sanitation.
The municipal commissioner emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness and timely execution of development projects. He reiterated that negligence in maintaining cleanliness standards would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those responsible.
The inspection also included a visit to the Bardari Talab in Bhawrasla, where beautification and development work is in progress. At Lakshmi Bai Square, Verma inspected the site designated for a new STP near Gutkeshwar Temple and later visited the under-construction STP at Kabit Khedi. He stressed the need for maintaining high-quality standards in construction and ensuring timely completion of these critical projects.
