A 22-year-old car driver from Mumbai was found dead in his car in Bhiwandi on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Akram Iqbal Qureshi, 22, who lived with his family members in the Jogeshwari area of Mumbai.
The incident came to light when a passerby noticed a man lying in a pool of blood in the car. Subsequently, the passerby alerted the local police. The Bhiwandi Taluka police rushed to the spot and sent him to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Meanwhile, the police notified his family members.
According to the police, Qureshi took his car and left home on Friday but did not return. Despite several attempts by his parents to call him, he did not respond late Friday night. As a result, his parents approached the local police station to file a missing person complaint.
On Saturday, Qureshi was found dead in his car in Pogaon village near the pipeline, within the jurisdiction of the Bhiwandi Taluka Police Station. The police alerted the forensic team to collect evidence from the car and prepared the Panchanama.
Dadaso Edke, the investigation officer from the Bhiwandi Taluka Police Station, said, “We received information about the incident. We rushed to the spot and formed five teams to solve the case. During the preliminary investigation, it was learned that unknown individuals allegedly attacked him with stones, leading to his death. We are reviewing the CCTV footage of the route where the car was spotted. We will apprehend the accused soon.”
