Dhaka: Bangladesh’s one of the most accomplished wicketkeeper-batsman Litton Das was booed by cricket fans during the ongoing Bangladesh Premiere League (BPL) in Chittagong. Das was fielding near the boundary when the fans started shouting “fake, fake” while pointing towards him. Das did not say anything, but he kept looking at the agitated fans. The video of the incident soon went viral.
Some social media users even linked the incident to the recent incidents of atrocities of minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh. The incident reportedly took place during the Dhaka Capitals Vs Fortune Barishal match. Das plays for Dhaka Capitals in the BPL.
Here Is The Video:
Dhaka Capitals came in support of their player. “You may see a blurred video of someone being booed; we see a national hero smashing the fastest century in BPL history and being part of a record-breaking partnership,” Dhaka Capitals wrote on its Facebook account.
“You see criticism; we see a star batter who holds Bangladesh’s highest individual ODI score and the country’s best Test batting rank. You see obstacles; we see history being created. Litton, you are a symbol of our love. You are our pride,” it added.
Responding to Dhaka Capital’s post, Das said, “Truly touched by this wonderful gesture from my team, Dhaka Capitals. Thank you to everyone who supports me and all athletes, through every high and low. Your belief means the world to us.”
