Work is starting on many important projects in Uttar Pradesh to ease railway traffic and increase passenger convenience. These include doubling of the Bandikui-Agra railway track and the Ring Rail project in Lucknow. These projects will not only reduce travel time but will also reduce passenger load and traffic problems at railway stations.
Bandikui-Agra Railway Track Doubling
Due to the increasing number of trains on the 151 km long Bandikui-Agra railway track, priority is given to express and superfast trains by frequently stopping passenger and goods trains.

Passengers face travel delays due to frequent stopping of trains at stations. - Solution:
Doubling of railway tracks will solve this problem in future, which will ease the movement of trains and reduce travel time. - Benefit:
After doubling, the number of trains on this route can be increased, and the travel experience will be better.
Lucknow Ring Rail Project: New form of railway transport
There is a daily movement of about 1.5 lakh passengers at Lucknow’s Charbagh and Lucknow Junction railway stations. This causes problem of traffic jam and passenger load at Charbagh station. To reduce this, the Ring Rail project is being brought.

10 railway stations will be included in the Ring Rail:
- utratia
- Malheur
- transport city
- Manak Nagar
- Alam Nagar
- Aishbagh
- city station
- Daliganj
- badshahnagar
- Gomtinagar
These stations will be better connected with city traffic, which will make movement easier for passengers.
Key Features of the Project
1. Improvement in speed on Uttaratiya Bypass
- The track from Transport Nagar to Uttaretiya has been doubled.
- The speed of trains on this section will be increased to 100 km/hr.
- 29 non-premium trains of Charbagh will be bypassed from Transport Nagar, which will reduce the load at Charbagh station.
2. Four lane track on Kanpur route
- Four lane track will be constructed between Lucknow and Kanpur.
- Bypass line will be built till Unnao, due to which goods trains and other trains will not need to go to Kanpur station.
- This bypass will help in sending trains directly towards Delhi.
3. Improve traffic and accessibility
- There will be arrangements for urban transport such as city buses, metro, autos, and tempos to ease the access of passengers to the Ring Rail stations.
- Railway officials will work on this in collaboration with the city transport and transportation department.
Benefits of Lucknow Ring Rail
According to Rajneesh Srivastava, Senior Divisional Operations Manager of Northern Railway, the outline of the Ring Rail project has been prepared and work on it will start soon.
