Saif Ali khan (L) and Mohammed Shehzad, the man accused of stabbing him | FPJ Web team
Reactions started trickling in from political arena after Mumbai Police said that the man accused of stabbing actor Saif Ali Khan was arrested. As the police later revealed that Mohammed Shehzad, the accused, was from Bangladesh, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi lashed out at Home Minister Amit Shah and the central government.
In her post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), she said it was a ‘shame’ that home minister was not able to provide adequate security to plug gaps in porous Indo-Bangladesh border to the extent that people were able to cross the border freely and even acquire documents and commit crime.
In another post made shortly after the first one, Chaturvedi said 4 out of 5 Indian states that share borders with Bangladesh are governed by BJP.
Shatrughna Sinha, the actor-turned-politician posted on X as well but did not criticize BJP or Amit Shah. In his post he wished Saif a speedy recovery. He had words for Kareena Kapoor too.
Mumbai Police arrested Shehzad in the wee hours of Sunday (January 19) in Thane in a joint operation with Thane Police. The accused initially gave fake name to cops but later revealed his real name. He was arrested from a labour camp near a metro construction site.
