The central government will hold a meeting with the protesting farmers of Punjab in Chandigarh on February 14, in which their demands will be discussed. This information was given by a senior official of the Central Government. The protesting farmers are demanding a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP) for crops. After the announcement of the proposed meeting, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal agreed to seek medical help. Dallewal’s fast unto death entered its 54th day on Saturday. Farmer leader Sukhjit Singh Hardojhande said that Dallewal will not end his fast until there is a legal guarantee on MSP for crops.

Earlier, a delegation of Union Agriculture Ministry officials led by Joint Secretary Priya Ranjan had met fasting farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. The delegation also met representatives of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha. After the announcement of the meeting, farmer leaders appealed to Dallewal to seek medical help so that he could participate in the proposed meeting.

Meeting will be held in Chandigarh on 14th February

Talking to journalists at the protest site in Khanauri, Priya Ranjan said, “Keeping in mind the deteriorating health of Dallewal, a high-level delegation was sent by the Centre. We inquired about his health and held a meeting with representatives of the protesting farmer organizations.” He said that the meeting will be held in Chandigarh on February 14 and we urge Dallewal to break his fast and seek medical help so that he can attend the meeting.
