Mauni Amavasya is the Amavasya date falling in the month of January, which is especially considered for the worship of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. This year, the festival of Mauni Amavasya will be celebrated on Wednesday, 28 January 2025. According to the Panchang, Amavasya Tithi will start at 07:35 PM and will continue till 06:05 PM on January 29, 2025. There is importance of taking bath in Ganga and donating sesame, laddu and oil on this day. Mauni Amavasya is also considered auspicious for getting freedom from Pitra Dosh and Kaalsarp Dosh.

Worship method on Mauni Amavasya:

  1. Take bath and clean the temple.
  2. Salute Lord Ganesha.
  3. Abhishek Lord Vishnu with Ganga water along with Panchamrit.
  4. Offer yellow sandalwood and yellow flowers to the Lord.
  5. Light a ghee lamp in the temple.
  6. Recite Shri Vishnu Chalisa.
  7. Perform the Aarti of Lord Vishnu with full devotion.
  8. Offer food along with Tulsi group.
  9. Pray for forgiveness at the end.

This day of Mauni Amavasya has special religious significance, and the worship done on this day fulfills the wishes.
