Under clear skies and amidst an air of camaraderie, Mumbai and Pune played host to a memorable weekend of golf, where sport met service. The Anand Rathi Wealth Rotary Golf Classic and the Phillip Capital Rotary Golf Challenge, held on 11th and 12th January 2025, showcased the finest golfers coming together to champion the Rotary Club of Bombay’s Adult Literacy initiative. The tournaments collectively raised over ₹1 crore to support this vital cause, exemplifying the power of community in driving change.
The weekend began at the Oxford Golf Resort, Pune, on 11th January with the Anand Rathi Wealth Rotary Golf Classic. A lively Friday evening saw participants unwind by the pool with cocktails, dinner, and live music, setting the tone for the day ahead. The spirit rolled over to 12th January at the Willingdon Sports Club, Mumbai, for the Phillip Capital Rotary Golf Challenge. With 38 players taking to the field, the day began with practice sessions under the crisp morning sun. The competition was fierce yet friendly, culminating in an awards ceremony where Shashi Kapoor and Rajiv Srivastava took the top two spots, alongside Kailash Monga and Aryaman Himatsingka for Closest to Pin and Longest Drive. The day closed with a lively celebration.
Uniting both events was a shared spirit of purpose. Golfers not only competed but contributed to a cause that changes lives—empowering adults with the gift of literacy. Across both days, Parag Seth was crowned as the Overall Best Player, followed by Gautam Doshi.
These tournaments, masterfully coordinated by Past District Governor for Rotary District 3141, Sandip Agarwalla and a dedicated team of organisers, demonstrated the seamless blend of sport and service.
A nod to seasoned golfer Moy Biswas the Convenor of both tournaments, Gautam Doshi who was the Co-Convenor and the President of Rotary Club of Bombay, Satyan Israni.
With title sponsors Anand Rathi Wealth and Phillip Capital lending their support, this initiative stands as a testament to the transformative potential of collective effort.
