Saif Ali Khan stabbing investigation may have got a major push as Mumbai Police has detained a suspect from Madhya Pradesh, sources have told The Free Press Journal. The suspect is in custody and interrogation in underway.

It is not yet clear if the suspect is the actual attacker or a person connected with the crime. At the time of publishing of this story Mumbai Police had not made any official announcement about the detainment.

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed inside his home in Bandra on the intervening night between 15th and 16th January. The attacker stabbed the actor six times. He is still on the run as Mumbai Police have launched a massive manhunt. The police have formed 20 teams to hunt for the attacker who is still on the run.

Earlier police had detained a man but it was soon revealed that he was not the attacker.

The attacker entered Saif’s 11th floor home in Bandra. The man came across Saif’s maid. As he demanded money from the maid, Saif arrived at the scene to see what was the commotion about.

As Saif Ali Khan confronted the man, he stabbed the actor six-times grievously injuring him. The man escaped.

Saif’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan rushed injured Saif to Lilavati Hospital.

Movements of the suspect as he escaped were caught on CCTV cameras installed in the building.

A video purportedly showing the suspect in a mobile accessories shop in Dadar is also being shared online. As per news agency IANS, the attacker went to the shop in the aftermath of his attack on Saif. He was reportedly buying headphones.

The police have recorded statements of more than 30 people including that of actress Kareena Kapoor, who is Saif’s wife. Saif’s domestic helpers were questioned as well but later on, they were allowed to go.
