Ranji Trophy: The second round of Ranji Trophy is starting from 23 January. Meanwhile, Team India’s star batsmen Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have decided not to play Ranji Trophy. Kohli has decided not to play Ranji Trophy due to neck pain and Rahul due to elbow problem. After the disappointing performance on the Australia tour, BCCI has made it mandatory for the star players of Team India to participate in domestic cricket. Both have informed the BCCI medical team about their injuries.
Kohli and Rahul refused to play Ranji
Kohli was suffering from neck pain and had an injection on January 8, three days after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy ended in Sydney. “I am still having pain, which is why I had to miss Delhi’s match against Saurashtra in Rajkot,” Kohli told the BCCI medical staff. Whereas KL Rahul has suffered an elbow injury, due to which he will be out of Karnataka’s match against Punjab in Bengaluru.
BCCI released a list of strict rules for all players
This week the BCCI released a list of 10 strict rules for all players that are required to participate in domestic cricket. If a player is not available to play, he must seek permission from the national chairman of selectors.
However, Kohli and Rahul will get a chance to play in the next match starting from January 30. If both are fit then they can play this 4-day match before the ODI series against England. The three-match ODI series between India and England is scheduled to start from 6 February.
