It is mandatory to play domestic cricket

BCCI has recently made it mandatory for the Indian team players to play domestic cricket. After this, many players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma gave information about the availability of their respective teams for Ranji Trophy. But now reports have come out that Kohli will not play in the next round of Ranji Trophy starting from January 23. Apart from this, KL Rahul has also told BCCI that he will not be available for these round off matches. Both players have cited injury to the board for not playing.

Are Kohli and Rahul injured?

According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, Virat Kohli is suffering from neck pain. He has been struggling with injury since the Border Gavaskar Trophy and after the end of the series, he got an injury injection on January 8. But still he could not come out of it. Kohli has told the BCCI medical staff that he is still suffering from a sore throat. This is the reason why he will not be able to play the next Ranji match against Saurashtra on 23 January.

Domestic cricket will have to be given priority

He has been retained in the Delhi team and has also been seen practicing. Talking about KL Rahul, he has suffered an elbow injury. Due to this, he will not be able to participate for his home team Karnataka in the match against Punjab on 23 January. Let us tell you that he is soon going to become a father for the first time. In the 10 guidelines issued by BCCI, it has been said that players will have to give priority to domestic cricket. If they do not do so, action can be taken against them.

These players will play Ranji matches

However, both the players will not play in this match but they will get another chance. Actually, the final round of group stage in Ranji Trophy is to be played from January 30 to January 2. The ODI series against England will start from January 6. Both the players can be seen in this. But there is a gap of 3 days between the two matches. Therefore, if they wish, they can participate in the final round. In the match to be played on January 23, Shubman Gill will play for Punjab, Rishabh Pant for Delhi and Yashasvi Jaiswal for Mumbai.
