Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police have arrested a notorious thief who had fled the custody of Koh-e-Fiza police on January 9.
The thief was taken for medical examination at JP Hospital from where the accused had fled after managing to free his hands from the handcuff. Police officials said that notorious thief Jayant Lodhi of Vidisha was arrested by Koh-e-Fiza police in connection with a theft of 400 grams of silver.
However, he managed to escape from police custody following which a case was registered against him at Habibganj police station. Koh-e-Fiza police have launched a massive hunt for the accused.
On Thursday, police received a tip off about a suspect present near Christian cemetery with a country made pistol and some ammunition. Police reached the spot and arrested the man with firearm and a stolen bike. The arrested person was identified as Jayant Lodhi who fled the police custody.
TI Brajendra Marskole said Jayant had cases of thefts registered against him in Bhopal, Raisen, Rajgarh and Sehore. He is being questioned further to learn about persons from whom he purchased the firearm, the TI added.
