After the December quarter results, there has been a huge fall in the shares of IT sector major company Infosys. On Friday, the last trading day of the week, Infosys shares fell nearly 6% to Rs 1,812.70 on the BSE index. The stock closed at Rs 1,815.10 with a decline of 5.77%. Due to this fall, Infosys co-founder and promoter NR Narayana Murthy and his family have suffered a huge loss of Rs 1,900 crore.

The Murthy family holds a total of 4.02% stake in Infosys. NR Narayana Murthy held 0.40% stake in the company in the September quarter, while his wife Sudha N Murthy held 0.92%. Additionally, his son Rohan Murthy held 1.62% stake and daughter Akshata Murthy (who is the wife of former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak) held 1.04% stake. As of the September quarter, Narayana Murthy’s grandson Ekagra Rohan Murthy held a nominal 0.04% stake in Infosys. Overall, the five Murthy family members together hold 4.02% stake in Infosys, which is worth Rs 30,334 crore after Friday’s decline.
Infosys’ gross net profit
Infosys’ gross net profit in the third quarter of the current financial year increased by 11.4% to Rs 6,806 crore as compared to Rs 6,106 crore in the same quarter of the last financial year. The company’s gross net profit in the October-December quarter of financial year 2024-25 stood at Rs 6,806 crore, which was 11.4% more than Rs 6,106 crore in the same quarter of 2023-24. The company had earned a profit of Rs 6,506 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year with a growth of 4.6%.
The company said its total income increased by 7.6% during the period, from Rs 38,821 crore to Rs 41,764 crore. Similarly, its total income increased by just 1.9% in the second quarter of the financial year 2024-25, which stood at Rs 40,986 crore.
