Disturbing news of sexual abuse of a minor student by his teacher has come to light from America. According to reports, Laura Caron, a fifth-grade teacher at a New Jersey elementary school, started having sex with her 11-year-old student and got pregnant with his child when he was 13 years old.

According to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, the student and the teacher lived together between 2016 and 2020 at the latter’s home and had an “inappropriate sexual relationship” during that time.

The teacher first met the victim when she taught him and his brother in the fifth grade. The victim, who was born in 2005, and his family members were close to the teacher, and the boy’s parents allowed their children to spend some nights at Caron’s home before the children stayed there permanently in 2016 for some time.

During that time, Caron allegedly had “inappropriate sexual relations” with the boy. She later became pregnant with the boy’s child and gave birth in 2019. When Caron became a mother, she was 28 and the child’s father was 13 at that time, according to reports.

The secret about who was the father of Caron’s child was only revealed after the boy’s father pointed out similar features between Caron’s child, himself, and his son after seeing a Facebook post last year.

The boy’s sister also claimed that she had found her brother sleeping in Caron’s bed when they lived at her house. She said that the teacher started sleeping with her brother when he was just 11 years old. The victim, who is 18 years old now, admitted to the sexual relationship with his former teacher before investigators and said that he was the father of Caron’s child. He also revealed that the two remained in touch until last month when his father pointed out the similarity in the Facebook post.

After shocking revelations from the boy and his sister, Caron was arrested this Wednesday and has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. According to reports, Caron is being held at Cape May County Correctional Facility pending her initial court appearance.

After her arrest, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland stated that teachers hold a position of great trust, and the allegations in this case represent a deeply troubling breach of that trust. As of now, the Middle Township School District has placed the accused teacher on paid leave and has been cooperating with the investigation.
