Recently a claim is going viral that the government is going to issue a new coin of Rs 7 in honor of former Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

A picture is spreading rapidly on social media, in which the name of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has been taken. It is being claimed in this picture that “RBI is going to issue a new coin of Rs 7 in the honor of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Thala is shining once again.”

In the fact check conducted by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), this claim has been declared completely false. PIB said in its official post,
“In the image going viral on social media, it is being claimed that a new coin of Rs 7 will be issued in honor of Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his contribution to Indian cricket. This claim is completely false.”
He further clarified,
“The Department of Economic Affairs has not made any such announcement.”
MS Dhoni’s cricket career
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, known as India’s most successful captain, led India to its first T20 World Cup win in 2007. After this, in 2011, under his captaincy, India won the ODI World Cup. Dhoni has now retired from international cricket, but continues to play in the IPL. He scored 4876 runs in 90 Test matches, 10,773 runs in 350 ODI matches and 1617 runs in 98 T20 matches. So far he has played 264 matches in IPL and has scored 5243 runs.
