Batsman Karun Nair has been in great form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. Nair played an excellent innings against the Maharashtra team on Thursday. In this second semi-final being played between Vidarbha and Maharashtra, the winning team will face Karnataka in the final on Saturday.
Nair, batting for Vidarbha, added an impressive 224 runs for the first wicket with Dhruv Shorey and Yash Rathod. The 33-year-old Nair has broken Ruturaj Gaikwad’s record of scoring the most runs in a season in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy as captain. Nair has scored 752 runs in this tournament so far and has been out only once, giving him an average of 752. He has become the first captain to cross the 700-run mark in a season in India’s premier List A competition. Earlier this record was in the name of Gaikwad, who scored 660 runs at an average of 220 in the 2022-23 season, which included four centuries.
