Pakistani fast bowler Ihsanullah took the shocking decision of retirement at the age of 22 on Tuesday, January 14, after he was not selected by any franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft. Speaking to Pakistan TV channel Geo Super, Ihsanullah said that there are still four months left for the PSL and he will work hard to get a chance to play in the league. He first came into limelight in PSL 2023 due to his pace and regular wicket-taking ability, where he took 22 wickets in 12 matches.

Ihsanullah has also shown his potential at the international level, taking six wickets in four T20 matches for Pakistan. However, he remained away from cricket for more than a year due to an injury sustained during his ODI debut.

Ihsanullah’s fitness has been debated and criticized, with many questioning the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s indifferent attitude towards the fast bowler. Ultimately, he returned to competitive cricket with the Champions T20 Cup for the Dolphins, but managed only two wickets in four matches, making it clear that he was far from his best, which may have led to him not being selected in the PSL draft.
