The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) health department on Monday issued show cause notices to seven private hospitals in the city for allegedly violating the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act 194 norms and Maharashtra Nursing Home Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2021.
PMC conducted an inspection drive across all the hospitals, including Allopathy, AYUSH, Unani, and Naturopathy. PMC inspected about 135 private hospitals in a week and issued show cause notices to seven hospitals that failed to follow the norms.
During the inspection, the number of doctors and nurses in the hospital as per the norms and the rate sheets displayed outside the hospital were checked. The no objection certificate from the fire brigade and information about the disposal of biomedical waste was also obtained from the hospital.
These hospitals are located in Sinhagad Road, Narhe, Anand Nagar, and Hingne Khurd, amongst other areas. The civic body has over 850 private hospitals and nursing homes registered with them, officials informed.
Assistant Health Officer Suryakant Deokar said, “We have issued show cause notices to seven hospitals, and if they fail to adhere to the norms within a month’s time, we will take action such as cancelling licenses and imposing fines.”
