Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times by an intruder during a “robbery” bid at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. The actor underwent surgery at the Lilavati Hospital. The Mumbai Police is probing all the angles, including connection with the Salman Khan’s poaching case.
Notably, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi threatened to kill Salman Khan as he claimed that the ‘Dabangg’ actor killed blackbucks during the shooting of the movie – ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’. Notably, blackbucks (Chinkaras) are considered sacred by the Bishnoi community.
Saif Ali Khan was attacked just three months after Bollywood star Salman Khan’s close aide Baba Siddique was shot dead allegedly by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Siddique was allegedly killed just for being friends with Salman Khan. Last year in April, bullets were also fired outside Salman Khan’s residence reportedly by the people hired by the Bishnoi gang.
However, the police have not yet confirmed the involvement of any gang in the attack.
About The Blackbuck Poaching Case:
The case dates back to September 1998 when ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ movie actors – Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam – got embroiled in a blackbuck poaching controversy. A month after the case, members of the Bishnoi community filed a complaint against Salman Khan and his co-stars from ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ for allegedly killing the two animals.
Later, except for Salman Khan all other celebrities were acquitted by the court. Salman Khan is accused of poaching two blackbucks. Incidentally, Karisma Kapoor, the sister of Saif Ali Khan’s wife Kareena Kapoor, was also part of the movie. In 2006, the ‘Dabangg’ star was sentenced to five years in jail by a trial court. However, the Rajasthan High Court suspended the sentence. In November 2013, his sentence was stayed by the high court. In July 2014, the Supreme Court issued a notice to Salman Khan on the Rajasthan government’s plea. He was acquitted by the high court in July 2016.
The Rajasthan government filed a plea in the Supreme Court against Salman Khan’s acquittal in October 2016. The top court agreed to fast-track the plea. Salman Khan was sentenced to five years of imprisonment by the chief judicial magistrate court in Jodhpur in 2018.
Latest Updates In The Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case:
Saif Ali Khan sustained six injuries in the knife attack, out of which two were deep. He is reportedly now out of danger. As per India Today, no outside was spotted in the CCTV footage two hours before the incident. Reports also claimed that the assailant was heading to the room of Saif Ali Khan’s younger son Jeh when the maid started screaming. Saif rushed to the spot and got involved in a scuffle with the alleged burglar. In the process, the actor sustained six injuries.
The police are also probing the role of the maid in the case. So far three people have been detained. The police also reportedly seized the mobile phone of the house help of the actor.
