Indian fast bowler Akash Deep has revealed how he got Virat Kohli’s special bat, which helped India save the follow-on by batting brilliantly in the Gabba Test.
In this test played against Australia, Akash Deep scored 31 runs, which proved important for Team India.
After this, the match was drawn due to rain, due to which India was saved from losing.
How did you get Virat Kohli’s bat?
Akash Deep got this bat during the Bangladesh series.
Virat Kohli himself asked him – “Do you want a bat?”
Akash Deep was surprised to hear this offer and he immediately replied –
“Yes brother, who in the world would not want to have your bat?”
After this Kohli gifted him his bat with MRF logo.
Akash Deep was hesitant in asking Kohli for bat
Speaking to PTI, the fast bowler said:
“I have been with Virat bhaiya for some time now, but I was hesitant thinking whether it would be right to ask for a bat from a person of his stature or not.”
“Especially during a match, when he is in his zone, it doesn’t feel right to disturb him.”
“But bhaiya himself gave me the bat, it was very special for me.”
This bat later proved to be a game-changer in the Gabba Test, helping India avoid the follow-on.
