A video of a 92-year-old singing with her great-grandson is going viral on social media. It captures the man performing a Navaragamalika from the books of Carnatic classical music in front of the elderly lady and recording her reaction to it. The beautiful interaction between the duo has touched many hearts on the internet.

The grandma was identified as a Veena player named Maddala Mahalakshmi, who recently died after battling Alzheimer’s disease.

This nostalgic video showed one of the moments when she got immersed in music and started singing with her great-grandson Sriharsha Ganti. The footage opened with Ganti singing the very popular ”Valachi Vacchi’ song. As he sang the lyrics and the swaras of the beat, the late Maddala Mahalakshmi joined him.

Check out great grandma’s reaction

The clip captured her heartfelt reaction to Ganti’s performance. She smiled, wiped tears from her eyes, and joined singing. She was seen enjoying the moment when her younger relative sat next to her to render a beautiful classic song, which he remembered despite suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and old age.

“Her life is an example of what profound power music holds over the soul. At the age of 92, she couldn’t recognise us…but the songs she never forgot. Ragas were her friends and the swaras obeyed her command, up until the very end. She is the Music that pours out through Me. We are Because She is,” the great-grandson wrote while uploading the nostalgic video of his elderly relative Maddala Mahalaskhmi online.
