On January 14, the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Maharashtra Gramin Bank achieved the significant milestone of crossing Rs. 30,000 crore in total business. Based on its business and the services it provides; the bank has emerged top performing bank amongst the regional rural banks in the country. Maharashtra Gramin Bank is a regional rural bank sponsored by Bank of Maharashtra, with shareholding from the central government (50%), state government (15%), and Bank of Maharashtra (35%).

Currently, Maharashtra Gramin Bank operates in 17 districts of Maharashtra and offers various banking services to customers through its 426 branches. The bank’s total business includes deposits of Rs. 17,600 crore and loans of Rs. 12,400 crores.

The bank has successfully achieved 99% of its target for crop loan distribution, having disbursed Rs. 2,390 crores out of the target of Rs. 2,419 crores by the end of September 2024. The bank also offers advanced services such as internet banking, mobile banking, AEPS, DBT, and UPI. To enhance customer convenience, the bank has recently introduced QR code sound boxes for UPI payment confirmation. Additionally, the bank has launched the “MGB Vishwas” app, which allows customers to open savings accounts through video KYC from the comfort of their homes. The app is available on both the Play Store and App Store.
