Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Rain or ‘Mawtha’ has been forecast in half of Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Indore, and Gwalior for the next two days.
The rain is expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas. From January 17, a fresh wave of intense cold will grip the state.
On Wednesday morning, dense fog covered 34 districts, including Satna, Rewa, Maihar, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli.

What do meteorologists say?
According to IMD Bhopal’s meteorologist Prakash Dhamle, the active Western Disturbance will affect the western and northern parts of the state on January 15 and 16. After the system moves away, the cold in the state is expected to intensify.
Also, another Western Disturbance will become active from January 18. This will lead to an increase in the speed of icy winds, causing the entire state to shiver. Earlier, on Tuesday, jet stream winds blew at a speed of 203 km per hour.

January 15: Light rain is expected in parts of Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Damoh, Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Rajgarh, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Sehore, Harda, Dewas, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Dhar, Jhabua, Ratlam, Mandsaur, and Neemuch.
Thunderstorms may occur in Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Neemuch, and Mandsaur. Dense fog is likely in Satna, Rewa, Maihar, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli.
Yellow Alert issued
Yellow alert has been issued for dense fog in Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari districts. Cold wave with cold day will prevail in Bhopal, Sehore, Ratlam and Shajapur districts. Cold wave is likely in Neemuch district. Moderate fog with cold day will be there in Satna district. Moderate fog will prevail In Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Singrauli, Sidhi, Rewa, Mauganj and Maihar districts. There will be cold day In Raisen, Dhar, Indore, Ujjain, Shahdol and Balaghat districts.

January 16: Light rain may occur in parts of Bhopal, Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Niwari, Rewa, Mauganj, Chhatarpur, Panna, Katni, Damoh, Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Betul, and Chhindwara.
January 17: The weather is expected to remain clear on this day, but cold conditions will persist.
Temperatures on Tuesday
Sharp drop in night temperature continued across the state on Tuesday. There will be gradual Increase in temperature by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the next 4 days, according to Meteorological department officials. Bhopal recorded a day temperature of 23.4 degrees Celsius while it recorded a drop of 4.6 degrees Celsius in night temperature at 5.4 degrees Celsius.
Indore recorded 23.7 degrees Celsius while it recorded a night temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius. A drop of 6.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jabalpur while a drop of 5.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Mandla and a 5-degree drop was recorded in night temperature in Raisen at 5.7 degrees Celsius. Umaria and Malajhkhand recorded a drop of 4.8 degrees Celsius and 4.4 degrees Celsius in night temperature respectively.
