The farmers’ movement is increasing rapidly on the Khanauri border connecting Punjab and Haryana. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on fast for the last 51 days, and his health condition has become worrying. According to reports, he is now finding it difficult to even drink water as many of his organs are not functioning properly. Amidst this difficulty, from today 111 other farmers have also started a fast unto death in their support. These farmers are protesting by wearing black clothes in protest against the policies of the Central Government.

The farmers prayed before starting the fast unto death. At present, heavy police force has been deployed on the Haryana side at Khanauri border so that farmers do not try to enter. Farmers say that they will also fast. On Wednesday morning the farmers vacated the area and then started the fast after prayers.

Farmers expressed concern that Dallewal’s condition was worsening. A farmer leader said, “It is now becoming difficult for Dallewal to even drink water. This is a situation of concern.” Earlier, farmers had said that Dallewal was dependent only on water and was not eating anything. Doctors say his health continues to deteriorate, ketone levels are rising, and muscle mass is decreasing.

Meanwhile, 111 farmers have started a fast wearing black clothes at the protest site. Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar said that farmers are emotional and worried about the deteriorating condition of Dallewal. He warned that if anything happens to Dallewal, we are ready to make sacrifices for him. Farmer leaders have accused the central government of not paying any attention despite the agitation going on for so many days. Kohar said that the farmers have only one demand that a law should be made to guarantee MSP, but the government has not said anything on this till now. Dallewal has been on fast at Khanauri border since November 26 last year.
