Indian Army Chief (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi said on Wednesday that the situation on the northern border is sensitive, but remains stable. He said that the Indian Army is fully prepared and capable to face any situation. “The northern borders are secure as the Indian Army is deployed there and is present in required numbers,” he said during an event in Pune.
General Dwivedi, referring to the clash that took place in Galwan Valley on June 15, 2020, stressed the need for vigilance. He said, “We must ensure that an incident like Galwan does not happen again. Our eyes and ears should always be open to this, and every citizen of the nation should focus on this issue.” He also said that “we all should come together and unite on this issue so that we do not have to face any unexpected developments in future.”
The Army chief said ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) is intact, but “infiltration attempts are continuing.” He talked about paying special attention to the development of modern equipment and critical infrastructure on the northern border.
General Dwivedi said, “We will continue to move towards making the Indian Army a modern, agile, adaptable and technology-enabled force.” Explaining the importance of the 77th Army Day Parade organized in Pune, he said that this region has been a symbol of bravery and valor since the time of Maratha rule.
