Pratika Raval has set a new record for India with her amazing performance in her sixth ODI. Playing against Ireland, she held the record for the highest score in a Women’s One Day International. Pratika has taken full advantage of this opportunity she got in the team in place of Shefali Verma, and has scored a total of 444 runs at an average of 74 in her first six innings.
Pratika, along with Smriti Mandhana, gave a great start to India by opening the innings. Together they scored 435 runs for five wickets in 50 overs against Ireland, which included contributions of both their centuries. Mandhana scored 135 runs, while Pratika also played a brilliant innings.
Pratika said after the historic innings, “I was just concentrating on each ball and not thinking much. When I reached 70, I slowed down a bit, but then I improved it.” Regarding Mandhana’s batting, he said, “It is always fun to watch her bat. I don’t feel any problem in taking the backseat during this time.”
Pratika spoke about her partnership with Mandhana, “We are quite comfortable with each other. “We don’t think about records, just play every ball keeping it in mind.” Both have opened the innings six times so far, which also includes three century partnerships. Pratika hit 20 fours and one six in her innings, while Mandhana hit 12 fours and seven sixes.
