In a ten years old case, the POCSO Court-2 of Jaipur Metropolitan City I has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for sexually exploiting a minor and attempting to sell her for prostitution. While pronouncing the judgment to keep the accused woman in jail until her last breath, Judge Tirupati Kumar Gupta commented ” the accused, despite being a woman, could not understand the pain of a minor. A woman who commits such a crime is like a cactus in the society.”
The court has summoned four people, including three women, with arrest warrant for their involvement in the conspiracy in the same case. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 61 thousand on the main accused Karishma alias Kasso, resident of Shikohabad, Uttar Pradesh (UP). The Juvenile Justice Board has already ordered to send the woman’s son (minor) and the rape convict to a safe home in Bhilwara for 3 years.
The police officials said that a case of luring a minor and taking her away was registered at Galata Gate police station in Jaipur on July 10, 2014. The police recovered the minor after one and a half months.
The victim told the police that she was taken to Agra where Kasso’s son raped her and forced for prostitution. They tried to sell her.
The court ordered Karishma to be kept in jail until her last breath, while also raising questions on the laxity of the police. The court has summoned Naina, her daughter Sapna, Firozabad residents Manju and Bablu Singh through arrest warrant on charges of aiding in the crime.
