Adampur: Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Droli Kalan located in Adampur under the management of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Principal Prof. A book release ceremony was organized under the leadership of Harpreet Kaur. Bibi Davinder Kaur Kalra, member of Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee Halka Adampur, attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
It is noteworthy that a one-day national seminar on the topic “The Saga of Independence Movement and Partition of Punjab (from the Perspective of Punjabi Women)” was organized in the college on 6 March 2024 in collaboration with “Indian Social Science Research Council”, Which was coordinated by Dr. Rachna Tuli and coordinator Dr. Rakesh Bawa.
The research papers presented by scholars and researchers during this National Seminar were edited under the title ‘Proceedings of the National Seminar’. Apart from Chief Editor Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Rakesh Bawa, Chairman of the History Department, Balwinder Singh Thind, Chairman of the Punjabi Department and Assistant Professor Dr. Ravinder Kaur were present in the proceedings. In this proceeding, the message of Education Secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee, Sukhminder Singh, as the chief guest, has also been published.
This book contains a total of 14 research papers, out of which 7 are in English and 7 in Punjabi, which focus on the atrocities committed against women during the partition of the country.
Bibi Kalra said on this occasion that editing this National Seminar and its proceedings in the form of a book has become a historical document, which will provide new direction and perspective to the students by connecting them with history. He congratulated the Board of Management and the Editorial Board for the publication of this book. Principal Dr. Harpreet Kaur also thanked Bibi Kalra and all the staff members of the college were present on this occasion.
