BJP Leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s Derogatory Remarks On Atishi Sparks Fresh Controversy Ahead Of Delhi Polls | X
New Delhi: As the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 are drawing closer, the political atmosphere has started to heat up in the national capital territory. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ramesh Bidhuri once again sparked controversy with his sexist remarks on Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. On Wednesday, while addressing BJP workers after filing his nomination papers, Bidhuri said that Atishi is roaming in Delhi like a ‘deer’.
“Dilli ki janta nark bhog rahi hai galiyon mei… galiyon ki halat dekhiye… Kabhi Atishi nahi gayi milne logon se. Lekin ab chunaav ke samay jaise jungle mei hirni bhaagti hai vaise Atishi Dilli ki sadko pr hirni jaise ghoom rahi hain. (People of Delhi are suffering. Look at the condition of the streets… In the last four years, Atishi never came to meet the people and now when the elections are drawing closer, she is roaming on the streets of Delhi the way a deer runs in the forest.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has not yet responded to Bidhuri’s comments. Notably, Bidhuri is contesting the assembly polls against Atishi and Congress’s Alka Lamba from the Kalkaji assembly seat.
The BJP leader filed his nomination papers.
It was not the first time that BNidhuri made such controversial comments against Atishi. Earlier this month also, the BJP leader made similar remarks. While addressing an election rally in Delhi, Bidhuri said that Atishi “changed her father”.
“This Marlena (Delhi CM Atishi) became Singh. She changed her name. Arvind Kejriwal swore on his children not to form an alliance with the corrupt Congress. Marlena changed her father. This reflects the character of the AAP,” Bidhuri had said earlier.
Bisdhuri even made sexist comments against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadrza. The BJP leader said that the saffron party would make roads like “cheeks of Priyanka Gandhi”. Giving reference to Lalu Yadav’s comments in 2005 on Hema Malini, where the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) had said that he would make cheeks like the cheeks of the Bollywood actor, Bishuri made these remarks. Later, Bidhuri expressed regret over his controversial statement about Priyanka Gandhi.
The assembly elections in Delhi are scheduled to take place in a single phase on February 5 and the votes will be counted on February 8. Delhi is witnessing a fierce battle between the AAP and the BJP. The Congress, which failed to open its account in the last two assembly polls, will be eyeing to increase its vote share.
