Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A man accused of molesting a lone girl on an isolated street in Jabalpur was finally arrested on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Arpit Vajpayee, a resident of the Gate No. 4 Madan Mahal area in Jabalpur. Police said that he was a drifter.
The incident happened on January 12, when a student was passing by the Madan Mahal area during the wee hours. Accused Vajpayee pounced on her and held her tight in an attempt to molest her. The entire incident was caught on the CCTV cameras installed on the roadside.
The clip shows the accused attacking the lone girl on the isolated street with an intention to molest her. He groped her, and when she raised an alarm, he fled.
The victim directly approached the police station and filed a complaint. Police registered the case and started the search. The accused was caught within three days on Wednesday.
The victim, in her complaint, said that she is a resident of Mandla and is studying as well as working as a private employee in Jabalpur. On January 12, around 5 am, when she was passing by Sai Mandir in Madan Mahal, a youth suddenly attacked her. He held her tight and molested her. When she resisted and tried to push him, he fled the spot.
