Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis underlined its historical importance by describing the land of Panipat as a symbol of bravery and unity. He said that this is the land where Marathas found the formula of unity and they established Hind Swaraj by taking forward the self-respect of saffron. Marathas, protecting the country and religion, defeated the invaders and re-established the glory of the saffron flag.
Panipat: Land of Braves
Fadnavis said that the land of Panipat was accumulated by the sacrifices of Marathas and other heroes. He said:
“If at that time other kings of the country had come forward to help the Marathas, Abdali would have been defeated. If everyone had united at that time, history would have been different today.”
Announcement of grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Panipat
Chief Minister Fadnavis announced in a program organized at Shaurya Sthal in Kala Amb, Panipat that a grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be installed on the land of Panipat.
- Proposed Scheme:
- Maharashtra Government and Haryana Government will jointly develop this project.
- Fair value of land compensation to farmers will be given by Maharashtra Government.
- This statue will be a symbol of the bravery of Marathas and the cultural heritage of India.
- He said that next year Maharashtra government will also be a part of this event.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj: The hero who changed history
Highlighting the contribution of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Fadnavis said:
- “Shivaji Maharaj established Hindavi Swarajya at a time when the country was plagued by invaders.”
- He created a Mavala army without caste discrimination, which fought only for the protection of God, country and religion.
- Shivaji Maharaj defeated the Mughals and laid the foundation of Swarajya.
Sambhaji Maharaj and the expansion of the Maratha Empire
- Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj further strengthened the Maratha Empire.
- Defeating invaders like Aurangzeb, the Marathas expanded Hindavi independence from Attock to Cuttack.
- Fadnavis said that Marathas fought to protect the country when Hindutva, culture and places of worship were under attack.
Today there is a need to unite under the saffron flag and tricolor.
Fadnavis stressed that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had united everyone under the saffron flag.
- He said:
“Today we also need to unite under the saffron flag and tricolor. This is the pride not only of the Marathas, but of the whole of India.” - He called upon everyone to work together to protect the culture, religion and unity of India.
