Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic case of honor killing was reported in Gwalior, where a man killed his 20-year-old daughter just four days before her wedding, the police said.
It is said that the incident occurred in Adarsh Nagar, Maharajpura of Gwalior district around 9 on Tuesday night. After the murder, the father also brandished a pistol and a local firearm for about 10 minutes.
A team of police led by Gwalior SP Dharmveer Singh and CSP Maharajpura Nagendra Singh Sikarwar, then rushed to the scene. The victim’s cousin has also been named as an accomplice in the crime.
According to information, the victim has been identified as Tanu Gurjar, the daughter of Mahesh Singh, who runs ‘Mahesh Dhaba’ on the highway.
Victim’s cousin involved in murder
Tanu’s wedding was scheduled for January 18 and preparations for the same were underway at her home. On Tuesday evening, accused father Mahesh entered the house enraged and shot Tanu in the face.
The gunshot killed her immediately, and she collapsed on the spot. Hearing the gunfire, family members rushed to the room, only to find Tanu’s lifeless body soaked in blood.
Her face was severely disfigured. Mahesh stood with a firearm, while her cousin Rahul held a pistol.
Neighbors informed the police, after which CSP Nagendra Singh Sikarwar arrived. Mahesh continued waving his weapons in the air until the police managed to overpower and arrest him.

Reason behind murder?
Preliminary investigations revealed that Tanu did not want to marry. She had opposed the wedding arranged by her family. This disagreement escalated into a murder.
As per reports, two days before the incident Tanu had recorded a video claiming she was being forced into the marriage.
However, the police have not yet retrieved this video. Locals at the scene mentioned that Mahesh, known for his short temper, was furious about his daughter’s refusal to the marriage.
CSP Nagendra Singh confirmed that Tanu’s cousin Rahul was also involved in the murder. While Mahesh has been arrested, Rahul is currently on the run. Forensic expert Senior Scientist Akhilesh Bhargava also examined the crime scene as investigations continue.
The police have started questioning the accused and gathering evidence regarding the matter.
