Police Nab Nashik City Gang Involved In Robbery & Housebreaking In Harsul-Trimbak | Sourced
On November 29, unknown individuals entered the residence of Bhagwan Mahale in Velunje, under the Trimbakeshwar Police Station limits, and stole gold ornaments and cash amounting to ₹5,23,174. A case was registered under Section 305(A) of the IPC.
Later, on December 15, at midnight, unknown assailants broke into the house of Ajay Dhongde in Waghera Shivara, under the Harsul Police Station limits. The intruders threatened Dhongde and his mother with a sickle and a knife, warning them not to raise an alarm. They forcibly stole gold ornaments and mobile phones worth ₹26,500. Following the incident, a case was registered under Sections 309(4), 331(6), 351(3), 324(4), and 3(5) of the IPC.
Under the guidance of Nashik Rural District Superintendent of Police Vikram Deshmane and Additional Superintendent of Police Aditya Mirkhelkar, a team led by Local Crime Branch Police Inspector Raju Surve, along with officers Sandesh Pawar, Navnath Sanap, Shivaji Thombre, and others, arrested five accused and solved both cases.
The investigation revealed that the accused were from the Nashik city area, based on their crime pattern, clothing and dialect. Acting on secret information, five individuals were apprehended from the Chunchale, Ambad, and Gangapur areas of Nashik city: Aditya Eknath Sonawane (25, resident of Shamsherpur, Tal. Akole, now residing in Ambad, Nashik), Kiran Avinash Jadhav (23, resident of Jadhav Sankul, Chunchale Shivar, Ambad, Nashik), Gopal Madhukar Udhe (29, resident of Velunje, Tal. Trimbakeshwar) and Sunny Sanjay Katare (21, resident of Gangapur, Nashik).
During interrogation, the accused confessed to renting a car and committing the crimes in Trimbakeshwar and Harsul over the past two months. Police recovered ₹17,000 from their possession.
The accused, who have multiple prior cases, including robbery, theft, housebreaking, and weapon-related offences registered in Nashik city, Nashik rural and Ahilyanagar districts, were presented at the Harsul Police Station. Police suspect additional crimes may be linked to the group as investigations continue.
