Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that large-scale arrangements have been made by the Railways for the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. Around 13,000 trains are available to transport devotees. Regarding Delhi, the Railway Minister said that 10 years ago the railway budget of Delhi was only Rs 87 crore, but now 13 railway stations here are being redeveloped with a budget of Rs 2582 crore.

 

Renovation of 13 railway stations with a budget of Rs 2,582 crore

Amidst the ongoing election campaign in the capital, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that a lot of work is being done for the development of railways in Delhi. In the last few years, Delhi’s 13 railway stations are being renovated with a budget of Rs 2,582 crore, compared to Rs 87 crore 10 years ago. He said that you people have already seen the development of Safdarjung station.

He said that Bijwasan is being made a big railway hub. A mega terminal is being built here for trains going towards the western region. While a mega terminal is being built at Hazrat Nizamuddin for southbound trains.

The Railway Minister also said that Anand Vihar is being developed to take it towards the east. It is being integrated with RRTS and Metro through sky walk. He said that Sarai Rohila station is being made a high capacity station for trains going to Rajasthan. Talking about making Delhi Cantt station better for the people, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that to reach the passengers, Delhi Cantt platform is being connected with a direct road, through which your train will reach the station directly.

Delhi’s capacity is being increased: Railway Minister

He said that overall, being the capital of the country, the number of passengers in Delhi is very high. Railways is making every possible effort to increase its capacity here. He said that 700 trains come to Delhi every day and a master plan has been made to increase their number from 1000 to 1400. Regarding the preparations for Mahakumbh 2025, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, ‘Many arrangements have been made by the state government for this and Railways also has a big role in it. This time around 13,000 trains are available to transport devotees to Mahakumbh. We have been working on improving the infrastructure around Prayagraj for the last 3 years. About Rs 5,000 crore has been invested for this.
