The political temperature has risen before the upcoming elections in Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has alleged a secret partnership between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. He said that this time’s election will highlight the “jugalbandi” between BJP and Congress. This statement came when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made sharp attacks on Kejriwal.

Kejriwal’s reaction

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, Kejriwal said,

“Rahul Gandhi has abused me, but I will not say anything on his comments. Their fight is to save Congress, my fight is to save the country.”

BJP’s IT chief Amit Malviya said sarcastically,

“Worry about the country later, save the New Delhi seat first.”

To this Kejriwal hit back:

“Very good. I wrote a line about Rahul Gandhi and got a response from BJP. This shows how troubled BJP is. “This election will highlight the years-old partnership between Congress and BJP.”

Delhi’s triangular contest

The assembly elections to be held in the national capital on February 5 indicate a triangular contest. Ruling AAP, opposition BJP and Congress are face to face. AAP and Congress, which were allies in the general elections a few months ago, are now pitted against each other.

Rahul Gandhi’s attack

During a rally in Seelampur, Rahul Gandhi fiercely attacked Kejriwal. He said:

“Arvind Kejriwal had said that he would turn Delhi into Paris, remove corruption, and clean the capital. But today it is difficult to travel in Delhi due to pollution and inflation is increasing. Did he remove corruption?”

Rahul Gandhi also questioned AAP’s silence on the caste census issue and promised that a caste census survey would be conducted if the Congress government is formed.

AAP vs BJP conflict in Delhi

After coming to power in Delhi for three consecutive terms, AAP is trying to win for the third time. On the other hand, BJP is trying its best to win this time.

Congress’s performance in the last two assembly elections:

  • 2015: Congress did not get even a single seat.
  • 2020: The position of Congress was again zero.

BJP is trying to establish its dominance in the national capital by stopping the AAP wave this time.
