Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Monday said the date of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya should be celebrated as ‘Pratishtha Dwadashi’ as it was on this day that India got true independence. For this they had to face ‘Parachakra’ (enemy attacks) for many centuries.
The idol of Ramlala was consecrated in the Ram temple of Ayodhya.
On January 22, 2024, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the idol of Ramlala was consecrated in the Ram temple of Ayodhya. However, as per the Hindu calendar, the Pran Pratishtha ceremony completed one year on 11 January 2025. Mohan Bhagwat said that the Ram Mandir movement was not started to protest against anyone. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief stressed that the movement was launched to awaken India’s ‘self’, so that the country can stand on its own feet and show the way to the world.
There was no controversy in the country during the construction of Ram temple.
Mohan Bhagwat was talking to Champat Rai, General Secretary of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Indore on the occasion of ‘National Devi Ahilya Award’ ceremony. Mohan Bhagwat said that there was no dispute in the country during the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya last year.
The Central President said that India got independence on 15 August 1947 and then we also got political freedom and Constitution but its spirit was not followed. The Sangh chief said that the Ram Mandir movement was not started to create controversy. This movement was done to awaken India.
The Sangh chief said that when the Ram Mandir movement was going on, students were asking me why emphasis was being given on temple construction instead of livelihood, at that time I was saying that this movement is for the self-awareness of India.
