Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered the first Khichdi of Makar Sankranti at Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur. After offering prayers at Gorakhnath temple, he greeted the people of the state on Sankranti. Along with this, CM Yogi said that our festivals give the message of social and national unity.

People celebrate this festival in North-South, East-West. Saints joined this tradition to unite the people of Sanatan Dharma. It is celebrated as Bihu in the East, Lohiri in Punjab, Tilua Sankranti in Bengal-Maharashtra and Khichdi Sankranti in North India.

Chief Minister Adityanath said that lakhs of devotees are flocking to Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath temple. Today people are taking the first bath of the first Mahakumbh of this century in Prayagraj. The form of this Mahakumbh is unimaginable. Yesterday 1.5 crore people took the leap of faith. Lakhs of devotees are taking bath in the Sangam with faith since 3 o’clock. Many foreign devotees are also taking bath in Mahakumbh. People are taking bath in rivers and lakes at various places in the state. It is his good fortune that he has got the privilege of offering Khichdi to Baba Gorakhnath. There will be a crowd of lakhs of people here throughout the day.
