Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has given a strong reaction to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s claim of the fall of Modi government in India. On social media platform X, Vaishnav accused Zuckerberg of spreading false information and said that this is very disappointing. He stressed that a prominent person like Zuckerberg must maintain the credibility of facts.
Zuckerberg’s controversial statement
During a podcast, Mark Zuckerberg had said that the year 2024 would be difficult globally. He claimed that existing governments fell during elections in many countries including India. He cited inflation, economic crisis, and Covid management as the main reasons.
Vaishnav answered with facts
Refuting this claim, Ashwini Vaishnav said that more than 64 crore voters participated in the 2024 Indian general elections and the public expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and elected him for the third term. Citing examples of India’s Covid management, free food grains to 80 crore people, and 2.2 billion free vaccine distributions, he termed it the success of the world’s largest democracy.
Gave example of India’s progress
Vaishnav said that India is the fastest growing economy in the world today and Prime Minister Modi’s third term is not only a symbol of good governance but also the deep trust of the people. Rejecting Zuckerberg’s claim, he said that it is completely misleading and false about India and its democratic values.
Appeal to Zuckerberg to maintain credibility
The Union Minister advised Zuckerberg to avoid giving false information and make responsible statements with facts. He said that this statement of Zuckerberg is against the dignity of the world’s largest democracy and it is going to reduce trust.
Zuckerberg’s statement has evoked sharp reactions in India, where it is considered misinformation and an attempt to undermine the success of Indian democracy.
