BCCI’s ultimatum to Indian cricketers: The performance of Indian players was very poor in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) played in Australia and India has lost the BGT Trophy for 10 years. The Indian team now has to play T20 and ODI series against England on home ground. But before this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held a review meeting in Mumbai regarding the defeat of BGT, in which the performance of the players was seriously discussed.

Now cricketers will not have their way

In this meeting, the issue of players not playing continuously in bilateral series and taking rest in between was also raised. The Indian team management has expressed concern regarding this. So now Indian cricketers will get a big shock, because now they will not be allowed to act arbitrarily.

Rest after defeat in Australia

A strict decision has been taken in the BCCI meeting that from now on Indian players will have to be available for all the series. This means that players’ comfort may now be prohibited. The main responsibility will be on chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir. They will have to ensure the presence of the players.

For quite some time now we have been seeing that players are staying away from some series due to reasons like workload management and injury. However, he will be available for matches against bigger teams. Now, according to information received from sources, the team management is not happy with the players’ arbitrary attitude towards playing bilateral series and domestic cricket.

Breaks will be given only for medical reasons

Now players will not be able to run as per their wish. It has been made clear that players will have to be available for every series. When international cricket is not going on, players have to play for their respective home teams. Be it first-class matches or limited overs cricket.

If a player wishes to take rest due to injury, he must provide valid and sufficient medical reasons. BCCI had also made it clear in 2024 itself that it will be mandatory for all players to play domestic cricket. This will not be considered negligence.

Shami returns to the Indian team

Let us tell you that the Indian cricket team has to play a series of 5 T20 and 3 ODI matches against England at home. At present BCCI has announced the team for the T20 series. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the team in this series.

Whereas Akshar Patel has been made the vice-captain for this series. Experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami has also been included in the team. Shami was out of cricket after the 2023 ODI World Cup. England has already announced its team for the India tour.
