Pune Needs New Traffic Commissioner: Netizens Appeal To Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis | Anand Chaini
The traffic situation in Pune has gone from bad to worse. Amid this, several Punekars took to X (formerly Twitter) and appealed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to appoint a new traffic commissioner.
An X user wrote, “We need a new traffic commissioner in Pune. The traffic is hopeless. People break signals left, right and centre. Nobody fears the cops. The cameras don’t work. What is the incentive to be law abiding and honest if such people get to do what they want?”
Several Punekars agreed with this post and commented with their opinions. “Indeed. It’s super scary! I started learning to drive a few days back & it’s a nightmare! People break signals even during the daytime…,” commented one user. “What will the traffic commissioner do? Every traffic police is a commissioner because they take a commission from people who flout rules. Driving in Pune has become a nightmare for people coming from out of Pune,” claimed another user.
“A new traffic commissioner won’t solve the abject disregard for basic civic sense solely attributed to the Pune folks. The law doesn’t have to be enforced if people are willing to abide by it for their own and others’ safety,” a third user said. “Yes, a few short good videos should be made & boosted on social media so some sense can be created in people’s mind,” wrote a fourth user.
